Son La Provincial Police Department said that on August 21 they received information from Lang Son Provincial Police Department requesting coordination in the arrest of Vi Huan Sheng, born in 1992 and residing in Nanning, Guangxi, China.
According to initial information, Vi Huan Sheng was the subject of an arrest warrant issued on August 19 by the Nanning City Public Security Bureau in Guangxi, China, on suspicion of murder. He was believed to be hiding in Son La Province.
Immediately afterwards, the Son La Provincial Police Department instructed the Criminal Police Division to coordinate with relevant agencies to launch a manhunt.
Authorities set up checkpoints along trails and informal crossings in the border area, while also screening transport routes and accommodation facilities to locate the suspect.

At about 3 pm on August 21, Son La authorities detected and arrested Vi Huan Sheng in Khuong Tien Village, Chieng Khuong Commune.
During questioning, the suspect said that after committing the offence in China, he fled through Huu Nghi International Border Gate in Lang Son Province by blending into a tourist group.
Vi Huan Sheng then separated from the group, hired a motorbike taxi to travel to Hanoi, and later took a taxi to Chieng Khuong Commune in Son La Province. He said his intention was to find a route to flee onwards to Laos.
Son La Provincial Police Department later handed Vi Huan Sheng, along with related items and documents, to Lang Son Provincial Police Department to complete the case file and procedures in line with regulations.
