The event will be held at provincial level for the first time, with around 400 delegates and nearly 1,500 artisans, performers, athletes, businesses and support staff expected to take part.
A highlight will be the Son La International Brocade Festival 2026 on August 31, featuring performances and brocade fashion shows celebrating traditional weaving and ethnic cultures.

On September 1, an arts programme titled 'Moc Chau - Call of the Season of Love' will feature more than 300 performers, students and local residents, followed by a fireworks display lasting around 10 minutes.
Other activities include the Miss Galaxy Vietnam 2026 final, street performances, folk games, cultural and tourism camps, ethnic food showcases and community events.
Fourteen cultural and tourism camps will introduce local customs, traditional crafts and tourism products, while visitors can sample dishes of the Thai, Mong, Dao and Muong ethnic groups.
An exhibition fair will showcase agricultural, forestry, aquatic and processed food products, while cultural and sports exchanges and a highland market will be held around Long Sap International Border Gate.
Community activities will include a traditional pao-throwing performance involving around 200-250 people, along with Mong rice-cake pounding and other folk games.
Tourist attractions in Moc Chau and Van Ho are also preparing additional experiences for visitors, including Bach Long Glass Bridge, Moc Chau Happy Land, Moc Chau Walking Street, Hua Tat community tourism village and Tat Nang Waterfall.
Son La authorities said preparations were progressing as planned, with organisers finalising scripts, performances and facilities for the main events.
The province has also launched a campaign to improve cleanliness and landscaping at roads, residential areas and tourist sites ahead of the festival.
The event is expected to promote Moc Chau's landscapes, culture and tourism products while strengthening its appeal as a major destination in northwestern Vietnam.
