Cat Khanh Border Guard Station said it worked with local fishing vessels to rescue the crew of the GL-99322TS in waters off An Luong Commune.
At around 5.30 am on August 21, the station received an emergency call from the vessel's captain, Cao Thanh Phuc, 44, from Hoai Nhon Ward.

The captain said the boat had begun taking on water at around 5.10 am while operating about five nautical miles northeast of De Gi Estuary. Water quickly flooded the vessel, putting all 12 crew members at risk.
The GL-99322TS, nearly 23 metres long and powered by a 910-horsepower engine, is a purse-seine fishing vessel owned by Huynh Van Tuyet, 64, also from Hoai Nhon Ward. It had left Tam Quan Border Control Station at 9.35 pm on August 20 with 12 crew members aboard.

After receiving the distress call, Cat Khanh Border Guard Station maintained contact with the captain and instructed the crew to remain calm and try to contain the flooding.
Two fishing boats operating nearby, GL-30036TS and BD-93724TS, were then directed to the scene.
All 12 fishermen were safely transferred to the GL-30036TS. Their health was reported to be stable.
Border guards continued coordinating with fishing boats anchored at De Gi Fishing Port to help deal with the stricken vessel.
