Acting on information from witnesses, K91 Team began excavating the 2,500-square-metre grove on August 7 and continued until August 19.

The ground had been raised by repeated deposits of soil over the years, requiring excavation to depths of more than three metres in some areas.

After 12 days, 42 sets of remains had been recovered. Their identities and ages have yet to be determined.

The remains were found wrapped in military tarpaulins, alongside parachute hammocks and fragments of clothing.

K91 Team has preserved the remains and associated items for further examination and identification.
