The Dak O Commune Military Command in Dong Nai City said local authorities and residents of Bu Xia Village captured the crocodile near Cay Xanh Bridge stream late on August 17.

After securing the animal, the commune's Economic Division worked with local forest rangers and the Military Command to hand it over to Bu Gia Map National Park for rehabilitation and management in accordance with regulations.
The crocodile was first spotted on the afternoon of July 25, when residents working on farms near Cay Xanh Bridge stream saw what appeared to be a crocodile surfacing in the water. They quickly took photographs and reported the sighting to local authorities.
After receiving the report, Dak O Commune and the Bu Xia Village administration mobilised teams to search for and capture the animal. Several attempts proved unsuccessful because of the area's large size and numerous places where the crocodile could hide.
During the search, local authorities warned residents to remain vigilant, avoid approaching rivers and streams unless necessary, and keep a close watch on children.
The crocodile's capture has eased concerns that had persisted among Dak O residents for nearly a month and helped ensure the safety of people living and working around the area.
