Hanoi plans cultural events for National Day celebrations

The city's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said six performances would be held across Hanoi on August 19, featuring music, puppetry, circus, traditional theatre and drama.

The events will take place in Cau Giay Ward and the communes of Ngoc Hoi, Quang Minh, Binh Minh, Hat Mon and Ba Vi, with performances by major city-run arts organisations.

Cultural and arts programmes will be held across Hanoi to mark the August Revolution anniversary and National Day.

A further seven performances are planned for the National Day period, beginning with an event in Hoa Lac Commune on August 28.

On September 1, performances will be held in Dan Phuong and Minh Chau communes. Four more events are scheduled for September 2, including a major traditional cheo theatre performance at Ba Kieu Temple Garden in Hoan Kiem Ward, as well as shows in Phuc Son, Bat Trang and Dai Xuyen communes.

The programmes will feature a mix of traditional and contemporary performing arts.

Hoa Lo Prison Relic will also host a themed exhibition from August 19 to September 5, featuring materials on contributions and sacrifices made during Vietnam's struggle for independence and national development.

The city said the events were aimed at offering cultural activities for residents and visitors while promoting Hanoi's history and cultural identity.
