The flight was operated by a Boeing 787-9 wide-body aircraft. After the issue was identified, the crew immediately followed safety procedures and returned the aircraft to Munich Airport for landing, Vietnam Airlines said.

All passengers and crew members were safe and were escorted into the terminal after landing, the airline said.
Vietnam Airlines is working with aviation authorities and relevant agencies to determine the cause of the incident. It is also arranging support and alternative travel plans for affected passengers.
The airline said it would provide further updates once inspections were completed and a specific operating plan had been determined.

Vietnam Airlines currently operates direct flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Munich and Frankfurt, Germany's two major airports, using Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 wide-body aircraft.
