The festival will take place across Luong Van Tri, Dong Kinh, Ky Lua and Tam Thanh wards, aiming to develop night-time tourism, encourage longer visitor stays and boost local trade and services.
The opening ceremony will begin at 8 pm on September 19 on Hung Vuong Street in Luong Van Tri Ward and last about an hour.
Following an art performance, drones will stage a synchronised light show, creating images and visual effects highlighting the culture and people of Lang Son.
Later that evening, a lantern parade will travel from Hung Vuong Street across Ky Cung Bridge and through several central streets before returning to its starting point.
The parade is expected to feature around eight large lantern installations prepared by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with additional displays contributed by participating wards and communes.
Participants will wear traditional ethnic costumes or themed outfits alongside street performances.
During the two-day festival, Hung Vuong Street will feature Vietnamese lantern displays with historical, modern and creative themes, along with lantern-making activities and illuminated photo spots.
The Lung linh dem Xu Lang night market will run from 5 pm to 11 pm on both days, offering OCOP products, local specialities and street food, alongside performances and folk games.
An art exchange programme, Trang sang mien bien cuong will be held on the evening of September 20.
The festival will also include a seminar on Vietnam-China border tourism, focusing on expanding links between Lang Son and Guangxi and cooperation between tourism businesses, with representatives from Guangxi and several Chinese localities expected to attend.
Lang Son will also organise ecological and experiential tours at sites within the Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark throughout September.
