The province aims to develop its Huong rung U Minh (Scent of U Minh Forest) programme into a distinctive tourism brand, drawing on the area's melaleuca forests, local culture, traditional livelihoods and cuisine.
One of the main attractions will be the Legendary U Minh Night, offering visitors night-time forest tours, storytelling, traditional don ca tai tu music performances aboard boats and opportunities to observe nocturnal wildlife.
Visitors will also be able to join local residents in collecting wild honey and learn about the traditional practice of placing wooden rafters in the forest to attract bees.
Other experiences will focus on life in the U Minh Ha National Park, including listening to local stories, viewing photo exhibitions and trying traditional fishing methods and local cooking.
Storytelling about Ba Phi, a well-known figure in southern Vietnamese folklore, will be combined with don ca tai tu, a traditional form of southern Vietnamese music, through stage performances and weekend and holiday events.
Local cuisine will also feature prominently, with dishes and products including charcoal-grilled snakehead fish, climbing perch cooked with gourd and forest honey.
Ca Mau also plans to develop a linked "U Minh Night - Dat Mui Day" itinerary connecting the U Minh Ha melaleuca forest with the mangrove ecosystem at Ca Mau Cape and other attractions.
Another feature will be a weekend market in U Minh Ha, offering traditional food, local products, books and cultural activities.
The market is expected to use environmentally friendly materials such as banana, bamboo and coconut leaves for packaging and decoration.
Several activities are scheduled to be piloted from the fourth quarter of 2026, initially on weekends and during provincial tourism events. Authorities will assess visitor satisfaction and operational effectiveness before refining the programme.
