The search operation continued at the park on August 13, with teams uncovering 18 sets of soldiers' remains and 12 sets of associated artefacts, bringing the total number of sets recovered at Le Thi Rieng Park to 311.

The Ho Chi Minh City High Command continued removing soil and expanding the search area in zone B.
Excavators were used to remove more than 300 cubic metres of soil to reach areas suspected of containing the remains of fallen soldiers. Dump trucks and lorries were also deployed to transport large quantities of soil and keep the operation on schedule.

The search and recovery operation at Le Thi Rieng Park was launched on July 6 following the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra at a workshop verifying information about a mass grave of martyrs in the area.

Earlier, based on witness accounts and historical records, the Ho Chi Minh City Command estimated that hundreds of martyrs killed during the 1968 Tet Offensive and Uprising may have been buried in Do Thanh - Chi Hoa cemetery, now Le Thi Rieng Park.
