The storm struck at about 3 pm on August 12, damaging homes and public facilities in four communes in the northern province, according to an initial report from the Cao Bang Water Resources Sub-Department.
The affected areas were Tra Linh, Quang Han, Quang Uyen and Duc Long communes.
A total of 47 homes suffered roof damage. Two were hit by falling trees, one in Ban Pat Village in Tra Linh Commune and the other in Ban Nhan Village in Duc Long Commune.
The remaining 45 homes had their roofs torn off. Tra Linh Commune reported 16 damaged homes, Quang Han eight, Duc Long 19 and Quang Uyen two.
The Son Lo Village community cultural centre in Tra Linh Commune also lost part of its roof, disrupting local community activities.
Authorities deployed disaster-response teams to affected areas immediately after the storm to help residents repair severely damaged roofs. Local officials also called on residents to support one another in clearing up the damage and restoring normal living conditions.
The Cao Bang Water Resources Sub-Department said assessments of the damage were still under way and additional figures would be reported later.
