Tran Quang Lam, director of the Department of Construction, said the 16 projects cover transport infrastructure, housing and urban redevelopment.
The largest project is the Thu Thiem-Long Thanh railway, with a total investment of VND 134 trillion (USD 5 billion). Dai Quang Minh Real Estate Investment JSC is the project's investor.
Two component projects of Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 4 are also scheduled to break ground. Component projects 2-3, involves construction of an expressway section from the Saigon River to Thay Cai Canal, including Phu Thuan Bridge and Thay Cai Bridge. The project has a total investment of VND 7.05 trillion (USD 264 million).
Five housing projects are also due to begin construction around National Day. They include the social housing urban area in Ba Diem Commune, with its technical infrastructure component carrying a total investment of VND 64.053 trillion (USD 2.4 billion).

Of the five projects scheduled to be inaugurated around September 2, one is a housing complex for Ho Chi Minh City police officers, with a total investment of VND 1.168 trillion (USD 44 million).
Another is the renovation and upgrading of the Ho Chi Minh Museum - Ho Chi Minh City branch under a public-private partnership, with a total investment of VND 68.7 billion (USD 2.6 million).
