VietJet Air offers discount to mark new Western Sydney route

VietJet Air has opened ticket sales for its new direct service between HCM City and Western Sydney International Airport, offering a 20 per cent fare discount on its Vietnam-Australia routes.

The airline said the new route will begin operations on January 9, 2027, making it one of the first international carriers to connect with Australia's newest airport.

The service will operate twice weekly using Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft. Flights will depart Ho Chi Minh City at 9.20 pm on Tuesdays and Saturdays and arrive at Western Sydney International Airport at 10 am the following day.

Return flights will leave Western Sydney at 12.05 pm on Wednesdays and Sundays, arriving in Ho Chi Minh City at 4.30 pm the same day.

To mark the new connection, Vietjet is offering a 20 per cent discount on Deluxe, SkyBoss and Business fares, excluding taxes and fees, for bookings made until 11 pm on August 16 using promotional code VJAUS20.

The offer applies to direct routes between Ho Chi Minh City and Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, as well as the new Western Sydney service, for travel between September 7, 2026 and March 31, 2027, subject to blackout periods.

Western Sydney is one of Australia's fastest-growing and most multicultural regions and is home to more than 70,000 Vietnamese residents.

Western Sydney International Airport is Australia's first major greenfield international airport in more than 50 years. Designed to operate around the clock, it is planned to eventually handle more than 80 million passengers annually.

The new service expands Vietjet's Australian network, which already connects Ho Chi Minh City with Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
