Floodwaters from upstream surged into the area at around 2 a.m., causing water levels to rise rapidly at several locations, according to Tran Trong Kim, chairman of the A Doi Commune People's Committee.
Floodways at Km26 and Km31 on Provincial Road 586 were deeply submerged, with strong currents making them unsafe to cross.
High and fast-flowing water was also reported in A Doi Co Village and at the floodway leading to Xy Village, disrupting local traffic.
Authorities have erected barriers and deployed personnel at flooded locations to prevent people and vehicles from attempting to cross while water levels remain high.
Several bridges and floodways in A Doi were also temporarily blocked by rising water on August 9.
Rain was continuing in the commune on August 11, prompting authorities to closely monitor weather and flood conditions and maintain personnel at vulnerable locations.
Emergency preparations are also being made to evacuate residents from areas at risk if necessary, while authorities continue to inspect crossings and other potentially dangerous locations.
