Ha Tinh residents hand over rare turtle for release into wild

A family in Ha Tinh Province has handed over a rare golden mountain tortoise to authorities so it can be returned to its natural habitat.

The Cam Binh Commune People's Committee said on the morning of August 11 that it had worked with the Cam Xuyen Forest Protection Department to receive a golden mountain tortoise classified as Group IIB from the household of Le Van Coi in Quyet Thang Village, Cam Binh Commune.

Coi's family found and captured the tortoise before voluntarily contacting authorities and handing it over.

After receiving the animal, the Cam Binh Commune People's Committee and the Cam Xuyen Forest Protection Department completed the necessary procedures in accordance with regulations before releasing it into the wild at Ke Go Nature Reserve.
