Coffee prices moved in opposite directions in overnight trading and the early hours of August 11, Vietnam time. Robusta futures on the London exchange rose 0.50 per cent, while arabica futures in New York fell 0.97 per cent.
For September 2026 delivery, robusta rose USD 19 a tonne to USD 3,817, while arabica fell 3.25 US cents a pound to 332.30 US cents, equivalent to about USD 7,325 a tonne.
In Vietnam, coffee prices hovered around VND 97,000 a kilogram.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Vietnam exported about 147,600 tonnes of coffee worth USD 639.5 million in July.
Cumulative exports reached 1.2 million tonnes by the end of July, up 10.8 per cent in volume from the same period last year. However, export value fell 11.2 per cent to USD 5.45 billion.
The decline in value was attributed to lower average export prices. The average coffee export price in the first seven months of 2026 was estimated at USD 4,537 a tonne, down 19.9 per cent year on year.
Vietnam is the world's second-largest coffee producer and exporter, and the world's leading producer and exporter of robusta coffee.
