Journalists from Dantri, working with the Tung Ba Commune People's Committee in Tuyen Quang Province, recently handed VND 338.5 million (USD 13,000) in donations from readers to siblings Chung Van Man and Chung Nhu Nguyet.
The siblings also received VND 50 million (USD 1,900) directly from other donors, bringing the total amount raised for them to VND 388.5 million (USD 14,900).

The donations came after Dantri reported on the siblings' circumstances several months ago.
Their father died when they were young, while their mother left years ago to work as a factory worker in Haiphong and only occasionally returns home. Man and Nguyet have since had to care for each other.
Already living in difficult circumstances, the siblings face further hardship because both have thalassemia, a hereditary blood disorder that requires lifelong blood transfusions and iron-chelation treatment.
After their story was published by Dantri, thousands of readers and donors contributed to help them.

According to the family, VND 200 million (USD 7,700) will be used to build a new house and buy essential household items, while VND 160 million (USD 6,100) will be placed in savings to provide greater financial stability. The remainder will cover the siblings' medical treatment and education.
The allocation is intended not only to address the family's immediate needs but also to provide the siblings with greater financial security as they continue their treatment and studies.
The new house will be built on a plot of land donated by their paternal grandmother.
"On August 10, the family held a groundbreaking ceremony for the house. We expect construction to be completed within two months," said Chung Van Dong, a family representative.
Touched by the support from readers across Vietnam, Nguyet said: "We would like to thank Dantri, all the aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters and donors who have always cared for and supported us.
"Thanks to everyone's kindness, we now have money for medical treatment, school supplies and daily necessities, and we will soon have a new home. We will do our best to manage our illness, study hard and live good lives so that we can repay everyone's kindness."
