Hanoi metro serves nearly 14.2 million passengers in two years

Hanoi's Nhon-Hanoi Station metro line has carried nearly 14.2 million passengers since beginning commercial operations two years ago, according to Hanoi Metro.

The 3.1 urban railway line, which entered service on August 8, 2024, has operated 157,955 train services without any safety incidents, carrying an average of around 30,000 passengers a day.

In the first eight months of 2026 through August 8, the line served 4.26 million passengers, up 20.87 per cent from 3.53 million during the same period last year.

The figures reflect growing demand for public transport in the capital and a gradual shift towards greener modes of travel, helping ease pressure on Hanoi's road network.

Hanoi Metro said it would continue improving services and connections between the metro and other forms of public transport while expanding passenger facilities at stations.

The operator also plans to strengthen maintenance capacity, accelerate the use of technology and digital transformation in operations and develop skilled staff as Hanoi expands its urban railway network.
