Ca Mau to debut hot-air balloon festival alongside heritage event

Ca Mau Province will host its first hot-air balloon festival alongside a provincial heritage festival later this month as part of efforts to promote tourism, cultural heritage and investment.

Held under the theme "Celebrating Cultural Identity at Vietnam's Southernmost Point", the five-day event will run from August 28 to September 1 at Hung Vuong Square in Bac Lieu Ward and other venues across the province.

A highlight will be a display of 34 hot-air balloons, including tethered balloons, sightseeing flights, ground displays and illuminated balloon shows at night.

The heritage festival will showcase UNESCO-recognised cultural traditions, including Nha Nhac (Hue royal court music), Quan Ho folk singing, the Central Highlands Gong Culture Space and Don Ca Tai Tu music.

The programme will also include exhibitions on traditional salt-making, trade fairs, OCOP products, an investment conference and a regional tourism meeting involving Ho Chi Minh City and Mekong Delta provinces.

The event aims to showcase Ca Mau's cultural heritage, tourism products and investment potential, with plans to develop the heritage and hot-air balloon festivals into an annual event for the Mekong Delta.
