Northern region sees heavy rain end as heat returns

Rain is forecast tonight and tomorrow morning across northern Vietnam, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, easing from August 7 afternoon as heat returns.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that from the night of August 6 to the morning of August 7, the northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An are expected to see moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall of 20-50mm and isolated areas receiving more than 150mm. It warned of rainfall exceeding 100mm within three hours.

Also from the night of August 6 to the morning of August 7, the area from Ha Tinh to northern Quang Tri is forecast to have rain, moderate rain and thunderstorms, with rainfall of 20-40mm and some places receiving more than 90mm.

Forecasters said that on the evening and night of August 7, the Central Highlands and southern region will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with rainfall of 15-30mm and isolated heavy downpours of more than 80mm.

The meteorological agency said heavy rain in the northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An would gradually ease from the afternoon of August 7. Around August 9-10, the eastern part of the northern region may experience a return of hot weather, while the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue and the south-central coastal region will see sunny conditions, with some places turning hot.
