Authorities have integrated vessel movements, catch verification and seafood traceability through a digital system linking fishing ports and border guard stations, improving fisheries monitoring and traceability.
Border guards have stepped up inspections at ports and river mouths while working with local authorities and fishing associations to enforce IUU regulations. The province now operates nine fishing ports, where vessel movements, landings and seafood traceability are monitored.
Since the start of 2026, nearly 30,000 vessel arrivals have been recorded, with almost 18,000 unloading catches under official supervision.
Quang Ngai is also upgrading Tinh Hoa Fishing Port, due for completion later this year, and has proposed upgrading Sa Huynh Fishing Port to a Class I facility while planning a new fishing port at Sa Can to serve larger vessels.
Local fisheries officials said the improved port infrastructure and integrated monitoring system would strengthen fisheries management, ensure seafood traceability and support Vietnam's efforts to have the EU's IUU yellow card lifted.
