The Hue Agricultural and Rural Development Construction Investment Project Management Board said contractors had completed about 30 per cent of the seawall and precast offshore breakwater construction under the project's main works package.
Construction began on June 20 and is scheduled for completion by December 2027.
Project director Truong Van Giang said contractors aim to complete the entire seawall and part of the offshore breakwaters this year, while finishing all precast concrete components for the breakwaters.
About 1 kilometre of coastline in Thuan An Ward was severely eroded during storms in 2024 and 2025, affecting around 500 households.
Typhoon Bualoi in 2025 caused severe storm surges that destroyed tourism facilities, erosion-control structures and beachfront businesses in Phu Thuan and Thuan An.
Phu Thuan Beach was the hardest-hit area, where the shoreline retreated by up to 70 metres along a 300-metre stretch, threatening National Highway 49.
Authorities declared a natural disaster emergency in October 2025 and later installed a 400-metre temporary sand-filled geotextile barrier to protect the coastline.
