Demand for workers in Ho Chi Minh City remains strongest in manufacturing, electronics, engineering, logistics, information technology and high-value services, reflecting resilient business activity and a stable investment environment, according to the city's Department of Home Affairs.

In a labour market report released on July 30, the department said employment conditions had continued to improve as production and business activities expanded across the city.

Employers are primarily recruiting workers in manufacturing and processing, electronics, mechanical engineering, logistics, trade and services, information technology and other high-quality service industries.

During the first six months of 2026, businesses across all sectors created more than 123,000 new jobs, equivalent to 68.55 per cent of the city's annual employment target, highlighting continued strong demand for labour.

The department said the labour market is undergoing a notable shift. Rather than competing mainly on workforce numbers, employers are increasingly prioritising the quality of human resources.

Many companies with substantial recruitment needs are struggling to find workers with the technical skills, vocational training, professional discipline and adaptability required for digital transformation and greater automation in manufacturing.

To help employers fill vacancies, the Ho Chi Minh City Employment Service Centre, under the Department of Home Affairs, and the Youth Employment Service Centre, operated by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, have worked with other organisations to hold 145 job fairs, helping to meet part of businesses' recruitment demand across the city.
