Authorities in Thanh pho Ho Chi Minh City have recovered 14 additional sets of suspected war remains at Le Thi Rieng Park, raising the total number found at the site to 182.

During the latest operation, crews excavated nearly 300 cubic metres of soil while expanding the search area around a burial trench. Officials said the site consists of an artificial earth mound created during earlier park redevelopment works, leaving a substantial volume of soil to be examined.

To accelerate the recovery effort, the Ho Chi Minh City High Command deployed three excavators and a dump truck, allowing excavation work to continue throughout the operation.

The search and recovery operation at Le Thi Rieng Park was launched on July 6 following the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra at a workshop verifying information about a mass grave of martyrs in the area.

Earlier, based on witness accounts and historical records, the Ho Chi Minh City Command estimated that hundreds of martyrs killed during the 1968 Tet Offensive and Uprising may have been buried in Do Thanh - Chi Hoa cemetery, now Le Thi Rieng Park.
