The first phase of the build-operate-transfer (BOT) project, developed by Sun Group with an investment of nearly VND 9 trillion (USD 344 million), is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2027.

The line will connect the airport with the APEC venue and tourism developments in southern Phu Quoc, cutting travel time to about 20 minutes.
The six stations have each been designed around a different region of Vietnam, drawing architectural inspiration from the northwestern mountains, Hanoi, Hue, the Central Highlands, Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Quoc.
The final station, Dao Ngoc (Pearl Island), will be built underground and connected directly to the APEC Convention and Exhibition Centre.
According to Sun Group, the stations are intended to showcase Vietnam's cultural diversity through architecture while improving transport for APEC 2027 and future visitors to the island.
