The 25-year-old man, identified as Pham Duc Tai from Hung Yen Province, later wrote a handwritten letter thanking police officers and local military personnel for rescuing him.
Tai said he became disoriented after slipping while exploring the Suoi Da Hang area in Ba Na Commune.
"It is an unforgettable memory. I sincerely thank everyone involved in the rescue and wish them good health and safety," he wrote.
Police received a report at about 9 pm on August 1 after Tai's companion said he had lost contact with him.
Before communication was cut off, Tai managed to call and report that he had slipped and lost his bearings. His last known location was identified through his mobile phone near Suoi Da Hang.
Police and local military personnel launched an overnight search, deploying multiple teams across rugged forest terrain.
Tai was found at about 12.30 am on August 2 in a forested area near the stream.
He was conscious and suffered only minor abrasions and exhaustion after several hours in the forest. Rescuers administered first aid before escorting him to safety and reuniting him with his family.
