The Lao Cai Hydro-Meteorological Station said the province recorded moderate to heavy rain over the past 24 hours, with rainfall reaching 144.4 mm in Ban Qua, 113 mm in Tan Tien, 86.4 mm in Bat Xat, 67.8 mm in Nghia Do and 62.8 mm in Nam Muoi 2.

Soil moisture has exceeded 85 per cent in many areas and reached full saturation in some, increasing the risk of flash floods, landslides and ground subsidence.
Forecasters said the province could receive a further 10-30 mm of rain over the next six hours, with isolated areas expected to record more than 50 mm. A level-one warning for flash floods, landslides and ground subsidence remains in effect.
Authorities warned that the heavy rain could threaten lives, disrupt transport and damage infrastructure. They urged local governments to prepare evacuation plans and advised residents to avoid rivers, streams and steep slopes during heavy downpours.
