The survey covers coral reefs, Sargassum seaweed beds and coastal waters around the islet, while also assessing navigation safety and search-and-rescue requirements.
Located about 700 metres offshore, Hon Nhan was formed by volcanic activity and is surrounded by diverse coral reefs and marine life. On clear days, visitors can see Ly Son Island, Ba Lang An coastline and the nearby lighthouse from the islet.
Authorities plan to establish a pilot 12-hectare marine conservation area to protect coral reefs and Sargassum beds, laying the groundwork for sustainable tourism.
A separate investment survey conducted earlier this year proposed water-based activities including snorkelling, coral viewing, stand-up paddleboarding and camping.
