According to the Hanoi Centre for Disease Control, the capital recorded 185 Covid-19 cases across 76 wards and communes in the past week, from July 17 to July 24. The cumulative total for 2026 has reached 588 cases in 109 wards and communes, with no deaths. The number of infections was lower than in the same period of 2025, when 2,131 cases and no deaths were recorded.
Hanoi CDC said the rise in some respiratory infectious diseases, including Covid-19 and Adenovirus-related illness, may be linked to tourism, extracurricular study trips and crowded leisure activities during the summer break. It warned that case numbers could continue to increase in the coming period.
Another notable outbreak is dengue fever.
According to Hanoi CDC, the city recorded 146 dengue cases in 61 wards and communes over the past week, up by 50 cases from the previous week, when 96 were reported.

So far in 2026, the city has recorded 871 dengue cases in 111 wards and communes, with no deaths, up from 475 cases and no deaths in the same period of 2025. Three new outbreak clusters were recorded during the week in Chuong Duong, Thanh Oai and Viet Hung.
The city also recorded 109 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease in 57 wards and communes.
That was down by 15 cases from the previous week, when 124 were reported. Case numbers are forecast to continue rising in August and September as pupils return to school after the summer holiday.
The cumulative total for 2026 has reached 4,184 hand, foot and mouth disease cases, with no deaths, up from 3,293 cases and no deaths in the same period of 2025. Patients have been recorded in 126 wards and communes. One school outbreak cluster was recorded during the week in Quang Oai. Since the start of 2026, 69 outbreak clusters have been recorded, with one still active.
Hanoi also recorded 14 measles cases in 11 wards and communes. The cumulative total for 2026 stands at 354 cases in 109 wards and communes, with no deaths, down from 4,295 cases and one death in the same period of 2025.
Over the past week, Hanoi CDC coordinated with relevant units to closely monitor the disease situation across the city in order to detect cases early, carry out containment investigations and thoroughly handle areas with infections and outbreak clusters.
Hanoi CDC will continue monitoring hand, foot and mouth disease in the community and at nurseries and kindergartens, while organising environmental sanitation and disinfection measures in line with regulations.
The agency is also working closely with the veterinary sector to track disease developments in animals and implement inter-agency measures to prevent diseases transmitted from animals to humans.
