The Hanoi Chefs Association's national team won 37 medals and nine gold trophies at the Global Culinary Challenge Malaysia 2026 (GCCM 2026), held in Malaysia.
The team secured 14 gold medals, 12 silver medals and 11 bronze medals across a wide range of culinary categories.
According to the Hanoi Chefs Association, chef Do Thi Oanh won a gold medal and was named GCCM 2026 Most Outstanding Chef.
Chef Pham Xuan Tung claimed a gold medal and a gold trophy in the fruit and vegetable carving display category.
Bui Minh Tuan won a gold medal and the Top 1 trophy in the Asian Noodle Delight category, while Pham Van Dong earned a gold medal and the Top 2 trophy in the same event.
Le Quang Dat received a gold trophy for fruit and vegetable carving, while Nguyen Ha Phuong won a gold trophy in the Pastry Pro Master Challenge.
The results reflected the team's broad expertise, spanning Asian cuisine, pastry, artistic food presentation and decorative fruit and vegetable carving.
In the team events, SA4 Team 1 won five gold medals and the Top 1 trophy in the GCCM Global Café Catering Team Challenge. SE4 Team 2 also claimed five gold medals and the Top 2 trophy in the same category.
Team members also won awards in a range of other competitions, including birthday cakes, wedding cakes, chocolate desserts, chicken rendang, Asian noodles, seafood, chicken main courses and fruit and vegetable carving.
Nguyen Tuan Quyet, vice chairman of the Hanoi Chefs Association and head of the delegation, said the team's greatest achievement extended beyond the medal tally.
"What makes me proudest is not just the 37 medals or the nine gold trophies, but the spirit of the entire team and our shared determination to promote Vietnamese cuisine on the world stage," he said.
Another Vietnamese team, the Vietnam Pastry Alliance, also performed strongly at GCCM 2026. Despite fielding only three chefs, it won four trophies, three gold medals, one silver medal and four bronze medals.
