Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper, in partnership with Xuan Loc Ward People's Committee and the Ho Chi Minh City Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Hospital, provided free medical examinations, medicines and commemorative gifts to 350 people with distinguished service to the nation on July 25.
The programme, held in Xuan Loc Ward, Dong Nai City, marked the 79th Anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day on July 27.
Doctors from the Ho Chi Minh City Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Hospital carried out health checks, offered medical consultations and distributed free medicines. The examinations focused on respiratory illnesses, dermatological conditions, internal medicine, surgery and other common health issues affecting older people.
Alongside the medical services, Dantri and its partners presented 350 gift packages to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, war invalids, sick veterans and other people recognised for their service to the country.
Organisers said the programme was intended as a gesture of gratitude for the sacrifices and contributions made by those who fought for Vietnam's independence.
The initiative forms part of a series of activities marking War Invalids and Martyrs' Day and reflects broader efforts by public authorities, healthcare providers and community organisations to support the wellbeing of veterans, policy beneficiaries and their families.
To mark the anniversary, the Xuan Loc Ward People's Committee is also organising visits and gift presentations for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, war invalids, sick veterans, military veterans and other families recognised for their service, as well as incense-offering ceremonies at war cemeteries and memorial sites across the locality.
