The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that on the night of July 21 and during the day on July 22, the northern region and Thanh Hoa will see scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places, with sunshine during the day and heat in some areas. Forecasters said the area from Nghe An to Danang, and the eastern parts of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, will have scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places on the night of July 21 and during the day on July 22, while daytime conditions will remain hot to severely hot, with some places experiencing exceptionally severe heat above 39 degrees Celsius.
Other regions are forecast to have scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places in the late afternoon and at night, with sunshine during the day and heat in some areas.
Further ahead, the meteorological agency said the northern region is likely to see a spell of widespread rain around July 23-25, with total rainfall generally ranging from 70-150mm and more than 250mm in isolated areas. The heaviest rain is expected in Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien and Son La provinces.
