In a directive to provincial tourism authorities, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism ordered local governments to inspect tourist boats and other passenger vessels, particularly those operating in coastal, island, river and lake destinations.
Authorities were told to tighten safety checks, ensure vessels carry life-saving equipment and improve emergency preparedness.
The ministry ordered tighter safety measures at tourist sites vulnerable to landslides and flooding, along with stricter oversight of aerial tourism, scuba diving, underwater walking and adventure tours.
Local authorities were instructed to provide timely weather forecasts and hazard warnings and to suspend tours or tourist transport services whenever safety conditions cannot be guaranteed under the law.
The directive requires local governments to prepare search-and-rescue plans and ensure appropriate assistance for travellers who may become stranded because of storms, heavy rain or flooding.
The ministry urged tourism businesses and visitors to improve awareness of safety regulations and disaster preparedness, including recognising warning signs of natural hazards and knowing how to respond during emergencies.
