Direct Dong Hoi-Cam Ranh flights to begin next month

A new direct air route linking Dong Hoi in Quang Tri Province with Cam Ranh in Khanh Hoa Province will begin operations on August 16, with three return flights a week.

The route will be introduced as Quang Tri seeks to strengthen air connectivity, expand tourism links and improve access to major economic and tourism centres across Vietnam.

Operated with Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, each capable of carrying about 200 passengers, the service will operate every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.

Flights are scheduled to depart Dong Hoi at 1205, arriving in Cam Ranh at 1325, while return services will leave Cam Ranh at 1405 and arrive in Dong Hoi at 1530.

Authorities said the new route would help boost trade and tourism, encourage cooperation between airlines, travel companies and local authorities, and support visitor demand for the For Peace Festival 2026 and the National Tourism Year 2027, which Quang Tri will host.

Le Minh Tuan, director of Quang Tri's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the province had strong tourism potential, including a 200-km coastline and Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, home to about 500 caves, including Son Doong Cave, the world's largest cave.

Tuan said the new air services would make travel more convenient for residents, businesses and visitors while improving access to key domestic and international tourism markets.

He added that the route could pave the way for additional air services as the province seeks to support long-term economic growth and tourism development.
