European firms' confidence in Vietnam rises in second quarter

Business confidence among European companies in Vietnam rose to 79.7 in the second quarter from 72.7 in the previous quarter, reflecting improving business conditions, EuroCham said on Wednesday.

The Business Confidence Index (BCI), compiled by European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) and consultancy DXL, showed that 63 per cent of surveyed companies reported favourable business conditions in the second quarter, while 69 per cent expected conditions to improve further in the next three months.

EuroCham Chairman Bruno Jaspaert said European businesses had exceeded their own expectations despite persistent geopolitical uncertainty and a challenging global business environment.

The survey found that tourism and hospitality recorded one of the strongest improvements, while confidence also increased across manufacturing, agriculture and food sectors.

EuroCham said Vietnam remained one of Southeast Asia's most attractive investment destinations, supported by strong domestic demand, expanding public and private investment and continued economic reforms.

The survey comes as Vietnam reported gross domestic product growth of 8.18 per cent in the first half of 2026 and continued efforts to streamline administrative procedures and attract higher-quality foreign investment.

European businesses said further improvements in regulatory transparency, administrative efficiency and consistent policy implementation would help strengthen Vietnam's competitiveness and encourage long-term investment.
