The Southern Regional Hydro-Meteorological Centre said Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding provinces would continue to experience scattered showers and thunderstorms over the coming days, with some areas likely to see heavy rain.

Rainfall is expected mainly in the afternoon and evening, with temperatures ranging from 23-26 degrees Celcius overnight to 31-34 degrees Celcius during the day.
From July 18, a strengthening southwest monsoon is forecast to bring more widespread showers and thunderstorms across the region, with locally moderate to heavy rain.
The weather agency warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, strong winds and possible whirlwinds, while heavy downpours could trigger localised flooding in low-lying and urban areas.
At sea, southwesterly winds of Force 4-5 are forecast off Ho Chi Minh City through July 18, with thunderstorms posing risks of waterspouts and strong gusts.
