New Bach Mai, Viet Duc hospitals in Ninh Binh rapidly reach capacity

New branches of Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc University Hospital in Ninh Binh Province have quickly reached full capacity, treating thousands of patients.

The new Bach Mai Hospital branch has been seeing more than 2,300 outpatients a day on average since opening, with daily visits approaching 3,000 on peak days.

Its laboratories and diagnostic imaging units have processed more than 200,000 laboratory samples, carried out over 24,000 ultrasound examinations and nearly 17,700 advanced imaging procedures, including X-rays, CT scans and MRI scans.

The hospital's inpatient wards are operating at more than 100% capacity, treating over 1,000 patients, while four operating theatres have remained in use around the clock, completing about 400 surgeries, including emergency procedures.

The Viet Duc University Hospital branch, which opened less than a week ago, has also begun treating complex trauma and emergency cases, including severe head, spinal and multiple injuries, as well as paediatric emergencies.

Hospital officials said both facilities were built to bring specialist medical services closer to residents in Ninh Binh and neighbouring provinces while easing pressure on their main campuses in Hanoi.

Located near major expressways, the two hospitals are expected to serve patients from Ninh Binh, Hung Yen, Thanh Hoa and nearby provinces, reducing travel time for emergency treatment and access to specialised care.
