The two routes, operating one round-trip flight a day, were announced at a ceremony jointly held by Haiphong's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Sun PhuQuoc Airways.

Do Thanh Binh, the department’s deputy director, said the Haiphong-Ho Chi Minh City route would link the country’s two main economic hubs, while the Haiphong-Phu Quoc service would connect two leading coastal destinations.
The new routes are expected to support tourism growth by encouraging travel companies to develop new products and attract visitors in both directions, helping Haiphong achieve its target of welcoming 16.3 million visitors in 2026 and 25 million by 2030.
Cat Bi International Airport currently operates domestic flights to Ho Chi Minh City, Cam Ranh, Danang, Phu Quoc, Dalat and Can Tho, as well as international services to Incheon, Bangkok and Guangzhou.
