Car struck by train after stopping near railway tracks in Hanoi

A passenger car was severely damaged after being struck by a train while stopped near a railway track in Hanoi on Friday evening, but no injuries were reported.

The accident occurred at about 8 pm on a railway section between Giai Phong and Van Dien stations.

According to initial reports, SE19 train, travelling south towards Danang, collided with a four-seat car bearing a Hanoi registration after it stopped close to the tracks.

Witnesses said the driver had attempted to make a U-turn near the railway. After noticing the approaching train, the driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped unharmed.

The impact threw the car clear of the tracks and left it almost completely destroyed. The train was briefly halted while authorities cleared the scene before resuming its journey at around 8.19 pm. The locomotive sustained minor damage.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
