According to the Traffic Police Department, 7,773 traffic accidents were recorded nationwide, killing 4,877 people and injuring 4,486, down 17.4 per cent in crashes, 8.4 per cent in fatalities and 28 per cent in injuries compared with the same period last year.

Road accidents accounted for 7,706 of the incidents, leaving 4,827 dead and 4,468 injured. Rail accidents claimed 33 lives in 46 crashes, while 21 inland waterway accidents killed 17 people.
Traffic police handled more than 2.39 million traffic violations during the six-month period, up 43.2 per cent from a year earlier. Authorities suspended or revoked 64,730 licences and impounded nearly 528,800 vehicles.
Speeding accounted for the largest share of violations, with 592,000 cases, followed by 416,900 drink-driving offences.
Police also identified 7,853 traffic accident blackspots and hazardous road locations, with 4,586 of them having been addressed.
During patrols, officers uncovered 1,648 criminal, economic and environmental offences, arresting 1,776 suspects. The cases included smuggling, drug trafficking, illegal mining and environmental violations.
The department said more than 4.11 million online public service transactions related to vehicle registration, driving licences and traffic violations were processed in the first half, while AI-powered cameras helped detect more than 20,000 traffic violations.
