The three-plank boat is a traditional vessel closely associated with the lives of Quang Ninh's coastal fishing communities. Built from three wooden planks, one forming the base and two forming the sides, the boat features two bat-wing shaped sails that allow it to navigate efficiently even against the wind.

The operator has introduced six boats departing from the Ha Long 1 Market pier. The route follows the shoreline of Ha Long Bay from Bai Tho Bridge to the Quang Ninh Museum and Library, the Quang Ninh Planning, Fair and Exhibition Palace, before returning to the departure point.
The tour operates daily from 8 am to 5 pm, with each journey lasting approximately one hour. In addition to enjoying the scenery of Ha Long Bay, visitors can learn about the region's maritime history and culture through multilingual QR code guides, sample traditional fishing village cuisine and enjoy local folk singing performances.
Quang Ninh plans to expand the experience by introducing additional products linked to the traditional boats, including racing events on Ha Long Bay and themed souvenir collections.
The province aims to welcome 22.5 million visitors in 2026 and generate more than VND 68.5 trillion (approximately USD 2.62 billion) in tourism revenue. Authorities are encouraging businesses to develop tourism products that highlight local cultural heritage, historical traditions and community life to enhance visitor experiences and encourage longer stays.
Tickets are now available at VND 200,000 (approximately USD 7.65) per adult and VND 100,000 (approximately USD 3.82) for children between 1 metre and 1.3 metres tall. Children under 1 metre are admitted free of charge.
To mark the launch, the operator is offering a 30 per cent discount on ticket prices during the first week. Visitors can purchase tickets at the ticket counter or book online.
