Dong Nai City Police said the 28 foreign nationals were deported through Tan Son Nhat International Airport after investigations found they had entered Vietnam on tourist visas but later remained in the country to work and reside illegally at several businesses across wards and communes in the city.
Police issued administrative penalties against the individuals for entering Vietnam under a visa issued for tourism while engaging in activities inconsistent with their declared purpose of entry, as well as for overstaying their permitted period of residence without authorisation from the relevant authorities.
Authorities urged foreign nationals entering, residing and working in Vietnam to comply fully with Vietnamese law by travelling under the correct visa category, refraining from working without the required permits, completing temporary residence registration and extension procedures, and observing local security and public order regulations.
Police also called on businesses, organisations and individuals employing foreign workers to regularly review their compliance with legal requirements governing the recruitment, management and employment of foreign nationals in order to prevent violations.
