Mui Ne forms rapid response team to tackle seafood scams

Authorities in Mui Ne Ward, Lam Dong Province, have set up a rapid response team after tourists reported seafood scams at the popular Mui Ne Fishing Village.

The task force, led by the ward police and comprising local government agencies, community security personnel and other stakeholders, will receive, investigate and respond to complaints from residents and tourists.

Authorities will also publish a hotline, install reference scales, display trading regulations and step up inspections at the fishing village.

Vendors found underweighing goods, swapping seafood, touting customers, littering or committing other violations will face strict penalties.

Visitors have been encouraged to report suspected fraud directly to the rapid response team or via the hotline for prompt investigation.

Stricter enforcement is expected to help protect tourists, ensure fair competition for legitimate businesses and enhance the destination's reputation

Mui Ne Ward is also planning to upgrade the fishing village, improve its surroundings and enhance tourism services.
