According to local police, Baldus Kimi Marwin, 21, was riding a motorcycle through the Hoc Chanh mountain area in An Thanh Village, Duy Xuyen Commune, on the afternoon of June 23 when he was involved in an accident that left him with a broken leg.
Stranded in an unfamiliar location and unable to communicate in Vietnamese, the tourist managed to send his location via mobile phone to the owner of his guesthouse and asked for assistance.
After receiving the report at 4.25 pm, local authorities quickly mobilised a rescue team of more than 20 people to search for and reach the injured traveller.
Despite intense heat and difficult mountainous terrain, rescue personnel coordinated efforts to access the site and safely evacuate the victim from the remote area.
At around 6.45 pm the same day, Marwin was brought down from the mountain and transferred to Duy Xuyen Hospital for treatment.
Authorities said his condition has since stabilised.
