Mines Advisory Group (MAG) in Vietnam said on June 23 that its technicians had safely disposed of an unexploded artillery shell found on the ground near a cemetery in Sen Ngu Commune, Quang Tri Province.

The device was discovered by a local resident, who promptly notified military authorities to ensure public safety.
Following the report, a MAG technical team was deployed to the site to recover and safely dispose of the unexploded ordnance.
MAG is an international humanitarian non-governmental organisation specialising in the detection, clearance and destruction of landmines, cluster munitions and other unexploded explosive remnants of war.
The organisation has operated in Vietnam since 1999, focusing much of its work in central provinces, particularly Quang Tri, one of the areas most heavily affected by wartime explosive contamination.
