HCM City fines double-decker bus driver in Huong Giang parade

Ho Chi Minh City Police announced on June 19 that they had issued penalties against the driver and operating company of a double-decker bus involved in a parade featuring Huong Giang.

According to investigators, at approximately 5.45 pm on June 3, the bus carrying Huong Giang travelled along Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, Le Duan Boulevard and Ton Duc Thang Street.

Following an inspection, police determined that the vehicle had not operated on the route approved by the relevant authorities.

The parade attracted significant public attention after Huong Giang returned from the Miss Grand International All Stars 2026 competition.

During meetings with the driver and representatives of the transport company, authorities found that the vehicle had violated multiple regulations, including operating outside its authorised route, failing to comply with approved information displayed on the bus and carrying advertising that exceeded the permitted display area.

The driver was fined VND 700,000 (approximately USD 27), while the vehicle owner received total penalties of VND 14.5 million (approximately USD 558).

Authorities also temporarily confiscated the driver's licence and suspended the vehicle's operating permit.

Nguyen Huong Giang, born in 1991, first gained national recognition after reaching the top four of Vietnam Idol in 2012. She later won the Miss International Queen 2018 title in Thailand.

She currently works as a singer and television producer, overseeing reality programmes including "The New Mentor" and "The Next Gentleman".

Last year, she competed in the 74th edition of the Miss Universe pageant but did not secure a placing.

The Miss Grand International All Stars 2026 final was held in Bangkok, Thailand, on May 30. Huong Giang finished as second runner-up and also received a special award during the competition.
