At its sitting on June 19, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council reviewed an investment proposal for the Ho Tram-Long Thanh International Airport urban expressway under a public-private partnership (PPP) model using a build-transfer (BT) contract.

The proposed route will stretch more than 42 kilometres and feature six lanes, with a design speed of 100 kilometres per hour. The preliminary investment cost is estimated at nearly VND 47 trillion (approximately USD 1.81 billion).
The project is expected to create a direct transport corridor between Long Thanh International Airport and the Ho Tram tourism area, helping to reduce travel times and improve the airport's operational efficiency.
City authorities believe the expressway will also stimulate tourism, services, logistics and the marine economy across the eastern part of Ho Chi Minh City and neighbouring areas.
Under the proposal, investors would be compensated through a combination of land resources and public budget funding.
The project will require approximately 416 hectares of land, including around 32 hectares of forest land that would need to be converted for infrastructure development.
Construction is expected to take place between 2026 and 2029.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, once completed, the expressway will strengthen links between Ho Tram, Long Thanh International Airport and key transport hubs across the Southeast region.
The route is also expected to support an economic corridor centred on industry, logistics, tourism and services, while expanding urban development space in the eastern part of the city.
