Pham Van Thin, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cam Due Commune, thanked Dantri and its readers for supporting disadvantaged families in the locality. He noted that the newspaper had helped connect donors with many vulnerable residents over the years, contributing to social welfare efforts in the community.

The family's hardships began when Le Van Binh suffered a traffic accident that caused brain injuries and left him unable to perform heavy work. The responsibility of supporting the family then fell largely on Hoe.

In August 2025, Binh was diagnosed with late stage tonsil cancer that had already metastasised. Two months later, while accompanying her husband to hospital, Hoe underwent a health check and was shocked to learn that she had thyroid cancer.

As the couple began treatment together, another devastating diagnosis followed just one month later when doctors confirmed that Hoe also had cervical cancer. Since then, both husband and wife have spent long periods receiving treatment in Hanoi, while their 14-year-old daughter has been cared for by her 90 year old grandmother near their home.
