The project, called Vietnam Wild Live, marks VTV's first live broadcast dedicated to wildlife and natural ecosystems.
Speaking at the project's launch in Hanoi on June 16, Nguyen Thu Ha, head of VTV's Features and Educational Programmes Department, said the initiative aims to bring nature closer to the public and encourage greater awareness of environmental conservation.
The idea for the programme had been in development for several years, with Con Dao National Park selected as the first location.
Unlike traditional wildlife documentaries, Vietnam Wild Live will allow audiences to follow events as they unfold in nature rather than through pre-recorded and edited footage.
"The audience will be able to witness real stories taking place in the wild," said People's Artist and director Nguyen Hoang Lam.
The first edition of the programme will feature five consecutive days of live broadcasts using specialised cameras, monitoring systems and camera traps installed across islands within Con Dao National Park, including Bay Canh, Trung, Tre Lon and Tre Nho.
Viewers may witness rare moments such as sea turtle hatchlings emerging from nests, young birds taking their first steps or birds of prey appearing overhead.
Organisers said one of the project's unique features is its unpredictability, as no one can know in advance what events will occur during the broadcasts.
Nguyen Khac Pho, director of Con Dao National Park, said conservation of the archipelago's ecosystems requires cooperation among local authorities, conservation agencies and the media.
The programme will also feature live commentary from journalists, photographers, conservation experts and park rangers, providing insights into the area's biodiversity and conservation efforts.
