The contest featured Japan's Tamaya Kitahara Fireworks and Italy's Martarello Group S.L.R, both aiming to impress spectators along the Han River with elaborate pyrotechnic displays.
Japan's team presented a performance inspired by the spirit of Wabi-sabi, using vibrant bursts of colour to illuminate the night sky above the Han River.
The display featured the team's signature golden fireworks, resembling flowing silk ribbons cascading from the sky and creating elegant layers of light that reflected traditional Japanese aesthetics.
Synchronised precisely with the music, the fireworks transformed the performance into what many spectators described as a true "concert of light".
Viewed from Danang Bay, the Japanese display drew enthusiastic reactions from the crowd.
"I was genuinely surprised that the team used so many famous songs. It felt like watching a large-scale concert combined with fireworks rather than a competition. The music helped young audiences like us connect with the performance from the very beginning," said Nguyen Thao Vy, a visitor from Ho Chi Minh City.
One of the highlights of the Japanese performance was a fireworks recreation of Mount Fuji, the country's iconic peak, appearing above the Han River.
Italy's Martarello Group S.L.R presented a show titled Echoes Becoming Future, showcasing the cinematic storytelling style that has become the company's hallmark over more than a century.
The Italian team skilfully incorporated reflections on the Han River to enhance visual effects and create striking scenes across the waterfront.
Multi-layered fireworks effects, one of the team's recognised strengths, featured prominently throughout the performance.
Interwoven bursts at varying heights created a dynamic and visually rich display that captivated spectators.
However, towards the finale, dense smoke partially obscured sections of the Italian show, making some effects difficult to observe from a distance. From viewing points near Nguyen Van Troi Bridge, visibility of the closing sequences was significantly reduced.
The Danang International Fireworks Festival remains one of Vietnam's largest annual cultural events, attracting teams from around the world and drawing thousands of spectators to the central coastal city.
